tending the smallest seeds of faith

understanding your open faith

Here are some suggestions on ways to better foster and better understand your open faith:

  • Find some sources you appreciate: Just as Open Source software requires that many people build on each other's efforts and code, so Open Faith needs to build on other's ideas, commitments, writings, and practices. Go out and find some Open Faith Sources.
  • Start to reflect on what you appreciate: Consider what principles are most important to you (e.g., kindness, truth, nature). You might want to write out some thoughts and consider your principles in different situations so that you can clarify them.
  • Consider developing personal, daily practices: Create rituals that fit you ~ if you like to rise early and be alone, meditation is great; if you like to be with people and gatherings, libraries, concerts, movies are all options. Like nature? walking, learning about the environment... All of these can become daily practices.
  • Allow for Evolution and Change: Understand that your beliefs will change; your practice can change too, as long as you make changes gradually and carefully.
